Abu Halifa or Abu Hulayfah or Abi Huleifa or Abu Haleifah is a village in the Abu Halifa District of the Al Ahmadi Governorate in southern Kuwait and since this area was rich in small plants called " حنيفا Hanifa ", the name arose. Abu Halifa is also a host to the Box Hill Institute of TAFE, Kuwait Magic Mall and Sahel (Kuwaiti football club) Stadium. The most famous building in Abu Halifa is Al-Raya Complex.

The village (probably a town now) was built by the Kuwaiti Government/Emir to house settling Kuwaitis (previously living a nomadic lifestyle). It was also home to the famous Gazelle Club, situated about ten minutes walk (haha) away at the water's edge. In 1969 there was one English family living there and a handful of Europeans ~ presumably it's much more cosmopolitan now?
